Nourishment in the Making: A Cookbook Born from the Homestead
My Cookbook Journey from Kitchen to Page
There’s something sacred about working in the kitchen with a basket full of fresh herbs, a bottle of good olive oil, and time enough to let your hands remember what they know. Over the years sharing meals has always been, not just feeding bodies, but nourishing souls, and it’s from this place that my cookbook is taking shape.

I’m calling it Hunter Moon Homestead: A Nourishing Memoir, and if all goes according to plan, it will be ready for you by early summer, 2026! This isn’t just a collection of recipes. It’s a memoir told through food – recipes I have been gathering my whole life, each one carrying a story, a moment, a delicious sharing of sustenance.
A Lifetime of Gathering
The recipes have come a life time of gathering, experimenting, and taking intuitive risks in their conceptions. Others were born from necessity when my body asked me to eat differently, and I had to learn a new language in the kitchen (goodbye gluten!). Many emerged right here on the homestead, shaped by what the garden offers.
This book holds the many of the dishes we have served to those who have visited, and shared the high season’s abundance, as well as the celebration cakes that have marked special occasions, proving that gluten-free doesn’t mean joy-free.
Stories That Nourish
More than the recipes themselves, this is a book about the stories they hold. The dinners that we shared with guests, or family. The preserves put up in August that taste like sunshine in February, enhanced with unusual herbal ingredients. The meals shared with people I love, and the quiet suppers that restored me. Every recipe has a memory attached, and I’ve tried to honor both.

Permission to Nourish Imperfectly
What I hope you’ll find in these pages is permission. Permission to explore in the kitchen, and begin to gather your own library of special recipes. I give you full permission to adapt recipes to what you have on hand instead of running to the store. Permission to feed people imperfectly, lovingly, and often. Because that’s what nourishment really is - not perfection, but presence.
I’ve woven in reflections on homestead life, seasonal rhythms, and the practice of paying attention - to our bodies, to the land, to the people gathered around our tables. This memoir traces my journey to realizing that cooking and eating are acts of love.
What You'll Find Inside
The recipes span everything from weeknight simplicity to special occasion dishes worth the extra effort. Comfort food that is worth a little more effort. Real food, made from scratch.

This cookbook has been years in the making, built recipe by recipe, story by story, season by season. It’s been collecting itself across decades of my life - through childhood kitchens and college apartments, through learning to feed myself well, through building this homestead and discovering what it means to eat from the land you tend, in the revolving seasons of the Palouse.
An Invitation
I can’t wait to share it with you. Until then, I hope you’ll join me in celebrating the quiet, powerful act of nourishing ourselves and each other, with food for the body, the mind, and the soul.
