Sage Shapes | A Drawing & Painting Retreat September 7th-10th, 2023

Workshops at Hunter Moon Homestead are all-inclusive. Tuition price includes lodging, meals and instruction. Select "Workshop Only" to arrange your own accomodations. Continue below for details:

In this class, you'll learn Deanna's unique method of drawing and painting faces, hands, and flowers using watercolor, ink, and collage. Working from reference photos, we will use shapes and angles to capture gesture and likeness of the muse. Depth is achieved by creating layers with saturated colors, collage papers, and mark making.

You'll be gifted time (while your watercolors are drying!) to think about inspiration. What inspires you and how do you apply it to what you are creating? What makes you hum? What is your creative genius? How do you find and keep that when you return home? We will spend time developing our “Sage Shapes,” through intentional inspiration.

Learn more about Deanna and her process HERE.

THE ARTIST

Deanna Wilson

instagram @deannastrachanwilsonart

"I live in Eugene, Oregon with my husband and two cats. I work full-time helping people find jobs and housing. Because I work full-time, I need to create in small chunks of time. Watercolor and other water soluble materials work perfect for this. I love using my sketchbook to play and have fun without the pressure of creating a masterpiece every time.

I am inspired by the world around me and often paint my emotions as witnessed in various watercolor faces as well as in the light and whimsical works of art. Momentum and ideas come from each small piece I create which sometimes leads to something larger. My goal is to do something artistic as often as possible, keep the energy and ideas going, and learn, share, and grow with my art community."

-Lewiston-Nez Perce County Regional Airport (LEW)

From Moscow, take HWY 8 East through Troy. Just past town, take a right up Little Bear Ridge Road. At the "T" turn right to stay on Little Bear Ridge Road. Travel 2.5 miles and watch for the sign on your right hand side. If you hit a gravel road, you've gone too far!

The Bee House Studio was originally built as a grain barn around 1915. This barn housed food stores for working animals on this original turn of the century homestead, but is now our working artist's studio and retreat house!

We have restored the barn to include a beautiful kitchen, full bathroom, class room, a master bedroom suite, and a cozy bunk and lounging room.

All classes and breakfast service will be offered in the Bee House.
