Song of the Meadow | An Immersive Art Retreat October 3rd-6th, 2024

  • Live Workshop

Please join Roxanne in her brand-new workshop created just for Huntermoon Homestead!

Together we will up each morning to the sounds of nature in the Palouse, the songbirds, the flowers blowing in the wind and the water lapping softly on the ponds shore. Smells will entice you from the main house where you will be fed beautiful and garden-grown meals. And the lovely light-filled studio will call to you, where we will create and honor the beauty of our own creativity.

Our art project will be to create a stunning book, simply made of fabrics and papers - that could hang up as a wall hanging or placed horizontally on a cabinet or shelf. This book will be added to throughout our time together with collage and stitching, finally to be bound using sticks and other natural elements, gathered in the fields or by the water’s edge.

"I believe in immersing myself in the place I am teaching and into all the elements that surround me. This earth is our home, and the more we learn and experience nature, the more we understand ourselves and that we truly belong here too."
NEW CLASS TECHNIQUES WE’LL EXPLORE
  1. Assembling and constructing a simple artist book or art journal
  2. Hand stitching on fabric and paper
  3. Wiring found objects to our pages
  4. Painting background with layers, dry and wet brush
  5. Painting our own papers and fabrics for collaging
  6. Collaging

I live and create in the beautiful Pacific Northwest and the mountains and the river lands that surround my home are my constant inspiration. I am an Adjunct Professor at Oregon Institute of Technology where I teach Mixed Media Arts.

I share my art in workshops throughout the United States and have had my work shown and been published internationally. I also teach online workshops to students who are from all over the world. Teaching enables me to share my passion...nothing makes me more happy than helping my students through their own process of renewal.

My goal is to help you find your own magic. Through my art I would like to convey the feeling of connecting, timelessness and re-creation. My biggest project, my book, "Storytelling with Collage" was published in March 2016 by North Light Books. As an artist I am constantly learning and growing. Art is my passion, my love, my soul.

This is a double occupancy booking that must be shared with another guest.

Our closest airports are:

-Pullman-Moscow Regional Airport (PUW)

-Spokane International Airport (GEG)

-Lewiston-Nez Perce County Regional Airport (LEW)

From Moscow, take HWY 8 East through Troy. Just past town, take a right up Little Bear Ridge Road. At the "T" turn right to stay on Little Bear Ridge Road. Travel 2.5 miles and watch for the sign on your right hand side. If you hit a gravel road, you've gone too far!

The Bee House Studio was originally built as a grain barn around 1915. This barn housed food stores for working animals on this original turn of the century homestead, but is now our working artist's studio and retreat house!

We have restored the barn to include a beautiful kitchen, full bathroom, class room, a master bedroom suite, and a cozy bunk and lounging room.

All classes and breakfast service will be offered in the Bee House.

Unfortunatley we are unable to offer refunds on events and workshops. All sales are FINAL SALE and no refunds will be issued after purchase. If you are unable to attend you may request to transfer your spot to the first person on our waitlist or gift it to a friend.

At Hunter Moon Homestead, we are committed to providing a tranquil and harmonious environment for all our guests. To ensure a serene experience for everyone, we kindly ask that you refrain from bringing pets onto the premises. While we understand the deep bond between humans and their furry companions, this policy is designed to maintain the peaceful coexistence of our guests and respect the diverse needs and preferences of our community.
