Practicing Trust in the Perfection of what IS

Inside the bee house studio

I must admit to all of you, if you didn’t already know this about me, I don’t miss much. I am a person who notices the details... all the details. This can be an exhausting quality to have, both for myself and for those who live with me. Sometimes this quality serves me, but a lot of times this quality has me seeing all the things that “should” be better than they currently are.

How can a person be in gratitude when there is no pleasure in what IS? Honest answer is... they can’t.

I live with a lot of anxiety witnessing all that is incomplete, not quite right, almost there, in need of repair… In all of this though, this need for getting every detail just right never stops me from doing the things I have uncertainty of, whether or not they will work out. I have learned a lot this past year about trusting that everything is exactly right. Exactly is a big word in this context. This trusting that everything is perfect just how it is, it’s a practice!

As I reflect on this past year, we have come so far on our work of the restoration of this 120 year old homestead. As well as being able to share our home place with others, those who want to come together to celebrate being in a creative community. We learn so much from being with one another. It has been such a joy to meet so many new people, beautiful souls, who come here and make astounding creations, and share their hearts with us.

I would like to express my attitude of pleasure in having met and shared a bit of time with you here, thank you! You all have been the best part of seeing our vision come to life. You are all reminders to me that what really matters are not the things on the outside that are in various stages of completion and not yet polished, but the intention I set to practice returning again and again to having an attitude of appreciation for what IS.

Life itself is a work in process. Thank you all for participating in the process me, I am so grateful for all of you.

With Love,

-Kate
