The Inspired Journal | Mixed Media Journal Exploration Retreat September 12th-15th, 2024

  • Live Workshop

Join Hunter Moon Homestead creator and artist, Kate Poole, for a transformative journey of self-expression.
We will be exploring the powerful tool of journaling, using both visual and written expression. Tending to a creative journal helps to form a practice that assists in keeping creative goals in mind, feeds inspiration, and is a great opportunity to explore technique while learning. Delve into the art of journaling, a powerful tool that not only nurtures creativity, but also provides a structured space for exploration.
In this workshop we will begin 3 separate creative journals (one inspired by landscape, one inspired by botanicals, and another inspired by portraiture and the human form). In each journal we will explore a variety of mediums, and we will use our own poetry or prose as a prompt for developing corresponding images. We will capture images using variety of mediums including paint, ink, pencil, charcoal, pastel, mixed media and stencil.
This workshop is more than an artistic endeavor—it's an opportunity to forge a creative practice, discover new techniques, and breathe life into your artistic aspirations. Join us in crafting visual stories that mirror the evolution of your artistic voice.
  • Use prompts to write poetry from the heart
  • Convey a visual image from prompted creative writing
  • Process the subconscious promptings using art and writing
  • Experiment with unique ways to express your visual language
  • Play with new or familiar mediums in new ways
  • Build the foundation for daily journal practices
  • Come to an understanding of journaling as a way to understand your deepest and truest self
  • Leave with a visual and tangible representation of your creative process and progress
  • Learn to tap into creative flow
  • Approach your creativity as a spiritual practice
  • Explore the power of keeping a creative journaling practice

Snippets from her daily life can be found on the journal at huntermoonhomestead.com, and I she's currently working on a food memoire and lifestyle book. Kate has the heart of a beauty chaser and a beauty maker. She and her husband Rick are in the process of restoring a turn of the century homestead where they host art, writing and healing retreats.

"Gardening has been a big part of my life.  I grow both medicinal herbs for my skin care line, Essential Apothecary Alchemist, and food crops, for farm to table dinners for our guests.
