Hunter Moon Homestead Journal
A little something to wet your whistle while you wait for my upcoming cooking: Hunter Moon Homestead; A Nourishing Memoir. I make this dressing at least once a week. It's a beautifully simple vinaigrette that enhances any type of greens.
There’s something sacred about working in the kitchen with a basket full of fresh herbs, a bottle of good olive oil, and time enough to let your hands remember what they know. Over the years sharing meals has always been, not just feeding bodies, but nourishing souls, and it’s from this place that my cookbook is taking shape.
I think we all long for a feeling of connection within our communities, however that manifests for us. I have always felt like I didn’t really belong anywhere. At least belong in a way where I felt seen, and heard, and accepted, and maybe even celebrated, for my particular beingness. It takes a slowing down and a concentration to be truly present for another person. How often do we allow ourselves to do that?
Over the years, I've tried countless brushes, paints, and papers in my studio. Some have been forgettable, others have been pleasant, but these supplies? These have become essential companions in my creative practice. I'm excited to share the tools that have truly transformed my work and made the creative process more joyful.
Farmers market, neighborhood pea patch, your own garden, or the grocery market, where ever you procure your seasonal veg, this is the time for cucumbers!! What a lovely water filled and cooling vegetable for this time of the year.
